Was just told by the recruiter that they ended the manditory teaming deal for recent graduates except in certain areas and he also said that they weren't buying anymore manual transmissions. He said that they got a deal on the 10-spds and they bought as many as they want to have in their fleet so they aren't getting anymore of them. It's hard to know who is telling the truth. I can drive either but it seems that it would be easier to drive an auto if going to the northeast. As I understand it you get extra pay for NYC. I wouldn't mind that in an auto. That would be cool.
No teaming and automatics

This is what I heard about the manuals from the head mechanic at a terminal........................Some other company had ordered them and then didn't take delivery. USX got a good deal on them and that is why they bought them.

I drive an automatic, 06 Freightliner Century...love it...especially in traffic....LOL
I have been to Long Island twice. That was last summer when I was running loads for Walmart out of Toby Hanna, PA. I do not like being on the east coast.....especially in New Jersey....would not want to go into New York, but I didn't say "No" on my paperwork. -

There was a message from the President of the Company. We just bought 1000 FL Cascadias, 1000 Peterbuilts and 400 Internationals ....ALL manual transmissions. I think it is pretty clear the autos are going bye-bye. I LOVE my 10 speed!

I worked for Total and had a 9-speed... all of the 780s that came in for USX and Total were manuals - just left in December.

I am old fashion and like resting my right hand on the manual transmission. I know I know Both hands on the wheel!!
