Personally, I've never been a fan of driving with the flashers on in rain. I understand the point, but so many people get in the hammer lane and do such. If the visibility is that bad for you, pull over and wait it out if possible. I would also recommend adding the check the weather technique to your trip planning.

    Haven’t tried that yet...but I will!

Probably would cut down on the glare of the LED lights drivers are installing on the front of their trucks.

I was down in Miami last week and saw all the message boards over the highways telling people not to use flashers in the rain.

Personally I feel it’s very dangerous using them in the rain.

So explain Tennessee's reasoning for 55 mph for trucks and 70 for cars.seems that creates more crash scenarios with fast drivers mixed with 55 mph drivers.

Who does 55 in those areas of Tennessee? The way I understand it, several years ago Tennessee had to lower the limit for truck to reduce pollution from trucks. They were having an air quality problem. That said rarely do they enforce the 55 for trucks.

Should we all run 35mph with our flashers on? In 25 years I’ve never had an accident or a moving violation. You drive at your comfort level, and I’ll drive at mine.

Combination of things. Back when they did construction in that area, they just didn’t take the signs down.

Truth is that the split limits do create more of a safety problem. That’s what the studies found. Variable speed limit, where all traffic is at the same speed had no significant change. (Like Wyoming and a few other states have)

The only way to get it changed is to lobby and sue the state.
