It rains everyday here in the summer I hardly ever slow down under 70 mph it has to pretty much be a tropical storm for me to slow down as long as I can see I'm good just turn your cruise control off and roll on

Every rain storm is different so the safe speed is different for each one. But there is one constant, never drive faster than current visibility will allow you to stop in time if needed.

First thing you have to do is stop the offender and say "hey, boy. Why you speeding on my unsafe highway?" Then comes a 30 minute inspection that includes water levels on the road measured to thousandths of an inch. Wind speed is taken into account, along with tread depth and tread pattern. (Fines increased if an all position was used on the drives).

We then would pull the truck onto a mobile dyno and measure braking force. Any chinese tires were an instant OOS on wet roads. If they were using an engine brake at the time of the stop, the truck was impounded and sold. Proceeds went to the retired trooper pension.

It depends on the severity of the storm. Ive been in plenty that visibility was so low even 35 would be to fast.

I understand. In those situations it’s best to turn on your 4 ways and stay in the left lane.

I-275 around Tampa. This would be a great idea, soooooo many crappy trucks hauling containers hit #### every time it rains.

That’s only a good idea when you’re next to someone going the same speed. That way nobody can get by.

After all, 50 on a flat straight Interstate with no other traffic when it’s raining is fast enough.
