Freightliner has a big market share due to somewhat lower purchase cost. They are cheaply made trucks. The only way to manufacture cheaply is to cut cost. The engine, exhaust, tranny, and drive-train can be found in any truck, and are not exclusive to Freightliner, and are about the same quality as you'll find in other trucks. However, that Freightliner cabin is ALL Freightliner and is as cheap as it gets.

Everything in the cabin is hard plastic or vinyl with little sound deadening capabilities. There is very little insulation in a base model Freightliner. In the summer the floor is hot as a firecracker, and, in the winter it stays as cold as a block of ice, regardless of the inside air temperature. If the hot and cold are getting in, so is the sound.

The doors are plastic. Every time I close my door, I think, "Oh Sheet! Did I break it?" With the windows partially down, I get less wind noise than with the windows up and tight.

The one I drive has new dual exhaust from the elbows to the tips and is the loudest truck I've ever driven, and I've driven some rags.

If I turn the music to a volume that I can hear over the engine and wind noise, it overpowers the speakers, and distorts. More cheapness.

Volvo makes a quite truck and, in my opinion, is the best disposable truck on the market. I say disposable because with a good Pete or KW you can refurbish them a few times before they're scrapped.
