I'm about 2 weeks (optimisticly) from starting my new job.
Thing is, my Apartment is a rental and the lease is just about up. I've been spending the last few weeks putting my personally effects into "cold storage" but the problem is my brand new CDL will have an address on it I will no longer be living in.
I thought about getting a P.O. Box, but I think I'd need some sort of proof of residence to change that info on my CDL (actually, a P.O. Box isn't a valid addy anyway, but in case some of you sugest a Mailboxes Etc., Kinkos or UPS Store, I think I need a proof of address to take to Motor Vehicles)
How do you guys who live on the road maintain an addy if you're out all the time? (BTW, I could renew my lease, it isn't that much, but paying all that rent for somewhere I might only go once a month seems kinda dumb.)
Noob question: My "living adress" vs. "where I live"?

Do you have a trusted friend or family member that will let you use their address? I'd call DMV and see what they accept as an address for CDLs and what they require for a change of address. In Florida it's as simple as telling them the new address, no proof needed.

You'll need someplace to call home. Preferably in the same state your CDL is issued in.
Unless you like explaining to some goofball State Tax assessor why you don't think you should pay state taxes in 2 states. -
A PO Box is not a valid address for your CDL. If you are planning on living out of your truck, see if you can use the address of your home terminal. If not that, then a friend or relative. Some place that has a physical address, and that you will get any mail that is sent to you at that address. Really should not be too hard to deal with.

Yeah, I moved OUT to Pennsylvania in 2004 because I was sick of the cost of living in NY. Not to mention how much of my hard earned money they think they're entittled too. (Hookers for the Governor anyone?)
But if I give up my Apt. all of my relatives still live in NY. And I'd hate to change the State of my CDL with in the first few months of getting it. Still looking into how to solve this dilemma.
But 1st, I need to pass my road test and get a job.
