noobie here can you drive outside home state

    I don't know of any companies that'll hire someone with a permit. Maybe for orientation, but you'll have a full CDL before you go OTR with a trainer.

    We all used to do what we needed to or what was expected of us. Back in the day, you could get away with almost anything you had the courage to pull off. Now we have to be a lot more careful and play the game by the rules.

    I lived in NJ and I went to trucking school in PA. My permit was from NJ and I took my test in NJ. But I did all my driving while in school in PA.

    As did I. I was driving non CDL crane trucks to and fro NJ... Than my dispatcher grew a brain one day and found that.
