Please don't be offended but I have to LOL. He's only out for 12 hours. That thing is a dolly for 150lbs.
He could get by with a water bottle and log book. I've done the 12 hour slip seating for the last two plus years and it gets old lugging a bunch of stuff with you every day. I take a lunch cooler, a big insulated water bottle and log book etc. Out in the desert I would bring extra water.
By the end of the week you won't even want to carry the extra water.
Normal day for a slip seat 12/on, 12/off crude hauler.

Each to their own though. -
I've been slip seating with a crude hauling company for 2 1/2 years. I'm the day driver - I take a lunch box with stuff for breakfast and lunch and some snacks. A cooler with water and Gatorade. I usually eat lunch on my mandatory 30 minute break. I haul 3 to 4 loads a day, depends on my dispatch.

Since slip seating seems to be the norm in the oilfield, do u take a cb radio in and out of the truck every day or do u trust the next shift driver enough to leave it?
-
Here is the problem with leaving anything in the truck. If you leave your radio in the truck and your regular slip seat guy takes the day off and the guy they call in to replace him brings his little kid(s) with and they hold the button down on your mike for 12 hours your finals are burnt out and there is nothing you can do. Also on weekends there will be two other drivers who might like your radio and any tools you left in the truck.
If you want your radio you will have to get one of those bean bag type things to rest your cb on the dash and use a cigarette lighter plug in so you can take it home with you. -
Thats what i kinda figured. Thanks.
-
I doubt that leaving anything in the truck is advisable. But I also doubt that many of these companies are going to allow riders in the truck.

I don't use a CB - too many people talking too much crap.
