Was wondering the same thing. Anyone herd of north and south express?

I am leaving for orientation with their sister fleet on Monday 4/23. Their sister fleet is named JMS Transportation. JMS is company drivers and a small lease purchase fleet, and North and South Express is their Owner Operator fleet. Both companies are owned by a couple of brothers named Scott and Rod. Scott is in charge of JMS and Rod is in charge of North and South. I have personally met Rod and he is a very nice guy, and was very receptive to my many questions that I had about the companies.
I am going in as a company driver but am leaving open the option of trying their lease purchase out when the time is right. Co. drivers are paid between .34 to .37 cpm depending on the amount of miles you drive a week, plus you are able to earn an additional .03 cpm weekly if you are able to keep your idling down. 5% on trucks equipped with an APU and 35% on the trucks with out. I was told that the miles are based on hub miles as well. I'll try to keep people posted on my experiences.geargrinder and cyclone722 Thank this. -
Now that I am home for a few days will be talking with recruiter this week. Keep sharing with the info on the company side.

can not get a call back from them . That raises a red flag.
-
Hey guys... North and South lost their recruiter and now have a new one.

Having people with titles of "recruiter" is my red flag.
BoyWander Thanks this. -
Hope the JMS thing works out for you Boss Hoss. I have bumped into a few O/O that either were there or getting ready to leave. Not sure about a company driver situation. But I have not heard any positives about JMS. Maybe things have changed. There Safesat rating with FMCSA was not very good.
Just looked. JMS is in alert status with FMCSA over logs.

I wouldn't go near them unless you love those wonderful DOT anal exams. -

I cant speak for the JMS company drivers, but the n&s o/o TEXAS REGION branch is no good unless you live in or around Dallas. They have some good accounts leaving the DFW area, but once you are out they expect you to deadhead back to DFW or comeback on cheap broker loads. You will get paid if you turn in your paper work on time; you will make about $800-$1100 per week. They say there is a load planner, but when you drop your load expecting another one lined up they will call you back in a few hours and sometimes you cant pick up your next load until the next day. Weekends off dont really mean they will get you to your home city. You pickup a load on Friday that delivers Monday, and hopefully your home is near the pickup or destination. Also, the o/o lease will penalize you $250 out of your last check if you do not give a two weeks notice, and $450 or so out of your last check if you terminate your lease before 45 days.
