Just understand this is all about the law of averages. Schneider tells you right up front "make hay while the sun shines". We are in a very good time for freight, there is a trend in trucking of freight falling hard after the holidays. This year was an exception, so maybe next year too. Just make sure she understands she will be sticking it out through the occasional bad week too.

As a company driver i couldn't tell freight was soft. The only thing that slowed me down was that horrible winter

Yes, we are on Choice, the 65% program. If you go back and read my entire thread you can see my story....
Dogal and I live in the NE and MAINLY run there..... But we both run elsewhere also.... Short loads USUALLY pay more....

Popcorn, you can make money here.... I'm sure you understand the money changes every week... It all depends on you, the loads you pick, the fuel you buy, the speed you run...
I strongly feel you can make $1000 to $1500 a week pretty easily with good trip planning and good load choices...$1500+ is of course obtainable, as you can see from most of us in these forums.... It all depends on you and how you want to run.... I wish you and your wife the best.....

mickimause, hal380 and popcorn169 Thank this.

Hey I don't want any trouble with your wife there bro!

But on the flip side if you run smart and hard you can have a nice balance of home time and income.
You live in a good area for freight so that makes it easier as well.

    popcorn169 Thanks this.

    Thank you for sharing.

Yeah this thread is 66 pages and the link to the other is 92 pages, I wouldn't even know where to start but I will find time for it.
% and picking your own loads off a board is the way to go, I don't know of any other Van companies that offer both of those.
Man if you're doing that well these trucking companies must be making a killing off of us company drivers as myself. Regardless whatever company it is.

    hal380 Thanks this.

Would you guys recommend starting choice with no safety net? As in no money in the bank saved up?

    hal380 Thanks this.

I wouldn't start without a cushion..I mean it could be done but you don't want to go in the hole.
If you start taking advances you will be in the red from the get go.
Sure if you run hard you can pull yourself up but all it takes is something unforeseen to trip you up.

I'd save as much as you can then dive in..but REMEMBER to read and ask questions if not sure about something.
Plenty of people on here are willing to help.

    hal380 and freightwipper Thank this.
