Still? Many years ago, late 70's, I pulled a 28ft dump trailer and delivered sand to golf courses in the Chicago area. Several golf courses were in Cicero, and a Cicero cop was watching me for weeks, and one day pulled me over. He demanded I follow him to the city yard scale. Fine, I knew I was legal gross, he was looking for an axle fine. We pull into the yard, a guy pops his head out of the inspection hole, waving his arms, "scale broke". The cop waddles back to my truck, says, "this is your lucky day, can't weigh you, take it away". He did have the last laugh, however, a few weeks later, he did the same thing, only the scale was working, I think he got a $100 fine out of my boss for some stupid bridge law thing. After I paid the fine, he said, his boss was giving him a raise for all the trucks he pulled in.
I've run through Cicero for years, I've never been bothered. I think they like the short local dump guys. They never bother the larger dumps or Intermodel at least that I've noticed.
