I can't think of last time I nosed in with trailer. I always back in/drive out. Unless parking area has marked lines I line up next to last truck/trailer. To me its easier to back in with truck on one side only. Rather then between two trucks. (At least ONE that is crooked so that 12' wide slot becomes 8' wide)
Heck even with pickup I alway try to park so I can drive out. Amazing where kids/dogs/etc come from.

Edit to add. I didn't read all posts earlier. Now I have a question.
Some stated they thought it was safer to back out, rather then back in?
To me when I back in I am backing into a "static" enviroment" There is a parked truck on one side, Curb far behind, and thats it. My cab is in open (where there can be cars/trucks/people/cats moving around) So I can see them.
(while I don't recall ever pulling in forward between two trucks/trailers where It was NOT a pull thru) I would imagine it would be nerve wracking (to me) I would be backing up BLIND. All I could see is maybe 2' either side of my trailer in mirrors. I have no idea if kids on bikes, car with driver texting, granny with walker is in blind spot ready to step behind me. Its a uncontrolled envioroment that I can't even have chance to observe. (Even getting out and looking won't work as by time I run into cab/brakes/it can totally change)
So what am I missing? (regards to hits its safer?) Yes only damage I have done to trailer is backing up. Get distracted, area you are used to backing around corner and a pallet, chunk of steel was left in way (blind side backing)
I can understand getting out of sun/into shade, blocking lights, noise... all reasons to park another way.
I can't "get" how its safer to go in nose first. Thanks.

If you couldn't back around her trailer than she sure as heck didn't want you trying to back around her hood. Just curious- where were her trailer axles and how much further could she have backed in?
Sometimes when we are tired and miserable it seems like all the world is an #########. I thought you would have just blindsided from the other side

You must be one of the offenders. Heck, you are probably one who creatively parks because you're too lazy to walk from the real parking spots to the buffett!!!

It wasn't the offenders nose I was trying to miss it was the truck besider her. The trailer was out about 4' past that truck's nose and I couldn't see it clearly. There was no reason to blonde side as there were more spots 2 trucks down that were BACKED IN that I could hit easily. I wasn't tired or miserable, I just thought it rude and lazy that they were nosed in when it wasn't really late and there were plenty of spaces they could have easily hit backing in.

Expert on all that are you? I think not and to be honest your opinion is not going to keep me up at night.

I back in, pull in even take a curb spot when over size to keep the parking spots open for rookies and fresh meat.

As long as you mind your own business and take care of yourself life is better for everyone, why the rookies worry about others is one of the many reasons why trucking is going to hell these days.

Way too many runkie dunkies out here! Stay away from the mega truck stops anyway, there nothing bu trouble and accidents waiting to happen. Use your own mind and common sense when parking and you'll have a lot less headaches in the future. Stay away from the Herd mentality and be yourself. Way too many insecure, monkey see, monkey do drivers out here and enough is enough!

On the first point I am. Depending on others to be aware of you when on a bike is a fool's game. Taking the MSF Ridercourses to learn and then practicing those techniques on a regular basis pays far greater dividends than hoping to scare a car into noticing you because you have loud pipes. But thanks for discussing the merits of the issue instead launching a personal attack.

Trucking is going to hell because we no longer police our own. Just because Mess is a rookie doesn't mean she is automatically wrong. Nosing into any of the back-to-back spots is no big deal; you're taking up the same space forward or backwards. But on the perimeter spots, where what used to be overhanging the curb is now out into the lane? That is rude and inconsiderate behavior unless it is near a corner where it doesn't matter, or in a parking lot with more than ample room so it doesn't hinder access to adjacent spots.

    That's so true.......

You can park out in the Back 40 in a dirt lot with nobody around.......Wake up the next morning with trucks on both sides and sometimes....One or two blocking you from the front and/or the back....
