My dad has a 2001 one ton with the dreaded Duramax LB7. It's had lots of injector issues and he kept buying the cheap injectors. Finally he bought a full set of New Bosch injectors and installed them.
The truck is now smoking out of the blow by tube as well as the oil fill tube. It wasn't doing this previous to the new injectors. The previous set of old injectors was dumping fuel into to oil and over filling the crankcase..

The truck is not smoking from the tail pipe but only from the blow by/ oil fill tube. Is it possible that it's left over oil from the last injectors dumping fuel into the oil and over filling it or is this possible the injector cups not seating properly with the new injectors?

Any ideas? I know it's not a big rig but I figure there are people with experance on these engines here.

There are better forums for your Dura-max. But it sounds like to me that he has probably run it to long with failing injectors and has probably washed down a cylinder or two. The piston rings are no longer sealing.

You can check by running a relitive compression check. Disable the fuel system/ shutoff solenoid. And crank the engine. If doesn’t crank evenly then you’ve got a washed down cylinder. If it’s even then you might try removing and reinstalling the injectors.

Wonder if an injector isn't seated properly? I don't know squat about the Duramax though.

Shouldn't rings also smoke out the tail pipe?

Recently worked on a small common rail Isuzu with a slight miss and excessive blowby. Injector sealing ring failed allowing compression gas to pass by injector. It eroded the injector seat in the head. Was able to clean it up with injector seat reamer set.
