I have been at Cheeseman LLC in Fort Recovery, OH for more than three years now. They run a very tight ship. Not only is the pay very competitive but the mileage is there to back it up. The base pay is .35 a mile but with paid LTL stops ranging from $10 to $25 a stop it is very easy to get your average paid mileage to the high .40 to lower .50 a mile.
The freight is mixed between LTL and truckload so what ever kind of driver you are there is a load for you. I personally love LTL stops even at $10 a stop they really add up fast!
Cheeseman has three terminals: East Windsor CT , Duncan SC, and Fort Recovery OH. They also have droplots in several key cities in the eastern half of the U.S.
Drivers with less than one year experience can even qualify for the driver apprentice program.
Not a single complaint with CHEESEMAN LLC

Ras1166 the health care is average really I think the 80/20 plan is like 120 a week for a family. I have a family of 5 I signed up for the health savings plan. That one is $46 a week then you contribute money into a separate account tax free that can be used for medical expences or rolled over at the end of the year to an IRA. However the downside is the deductibles are pretty high. But we had our last child on the health savings plan and it worked out pretty good honesty compairible to the 80/20 plan because once your deductible is met the plan covers the rest

Thanks for the reply. Are you guys running all prostars or are there other trucks in the fleet? Also, do u have apu's or is it ok to idle? Any other info nwould be appreciated, hometime? miles? rider policy? and any other useful info. Thanks a bunch

The fleet is around 275 trucks most of those are prostars with the eaton automatic. There are 6 Volvos (I happen to have one of those) And probly 50 or a little more Macks. And a few International 9200s lingering around. All of the prostars have the battery operated APU's some of them have the aditional Air conditioner on top (manly the ones that run laredo). Around 10 of the Macks have the tri-packs. All the trucks have 1800 watt inverters. I drive a Volvo which has neither. All the trucks have the ability to run all night long. It is up to the driver to use his or her best judgement on whether to idle the truck or not. They don't give alot of flack about that however I don't idle a whole lot just when it is nessasary to stay comfortable. The prostars are the newer trucks most of the fleet has less then 500,000 miles and they try to keep them 5 years old or newer. But with the new emissions comming out who knows. We have somewhere around 1000 trailers all less then 10 years old most of them are stoughton or great dane.
I live at the main terminal, so hometime is very good for me everything is in my running lane to pass by the house. I normally get through the house twice a week and home normally friday night saturdays by noon useually. I have never taken a reset out on the road. I have never worked through the weekend.
An average week in Milage is between 2500 and 3000 miles a week but I also do around 30 stops a week that cuts down on the mileage.
The rider policy is that the rider must be a relative and at least 14 years of age. and it is at safetys discreation. I wrote a blog on what I did this week day by day. I will be posting it soon.Lonesome, ras1166 and falconbowhunter Thank this. -
Hi lammchop, I read your blog, very good info. Do all drivers have to go to Canada or is it by choice? Also, I didn't know you guys had flatbeds, does everyone do both flatbed and van or is it a choice? Thanks again
