Just finished representing a client in a IRS audit who is an independent operator\owner. He operates four 26 foot box trucks 26,000 pound GVW with lift gates. He operates out of Central Oklahoma, but he can go intrastate. He is getting jobbed by his freight broker that is charging him 15% (I assume this is higher than the normal rate). Anyway I told him that I would try and find him a freight broker that could get him some better gigs. Any suggestions?
Not a trucker, I am an Enrolled Agent/ Tax person

Unfortunately, I don't have any suggestions, Tax Dude, but I have a question. I have an appt with a CPA/Enrolled agent accountant tomorrow bc husband just recently purchased a truck, llc, and is starting as an O/O.
What type of questions should I ask the accountant? What kind of answers should I expect? Any advice on the best software to track our business? -

15% on a straight truck (expedited?) intra state isn't a whole lot of money per load......

Most freight brokers aim for a 30% cut...
