Not an accident, but violence at my local Pee-lot

I would say its less that people are lazy and more that almost every single release valve we had has been regulated away or made near unobtainable. A fist fight will in many cases get you in as much trouble as a non fatal shooting in many cases. If your going to get felony assault and possibly attempted murder for beating the snot out of someone with felony use of a deadly weapon added on if you have rings or some such ANYWAY. But also atempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon for shooting someone as well then why NOT shoot someone? Your life will be ruined regardless either way. And even a gentlemans agreement to not call the cops is usually as worthless as a wooden penny.

Hell even a loud argument with heated words can get you in hot water anymore and i am mot trying to be racist here but if you have people of diffrent colors argueing its not uncommon for the minority to claim racism just to spite someone they lost an argument with due to all the negitivity that comes with it. Lastly riseing costs on hobbies has left many people with few if any creative outlets suitable to burn off agression and rage leading to people just burrying it until it goes from a fistfight a few harsh words with a beer and talk afterwards to literally wishing the other person dead and then acting upon it.

Hell even achohol is viewed poorly nowadays. So just going to a bar to have a couple and play a game of pool or 2 can get you judged harshly and flat out loose you a job in a lot of cases if someone posts a picture of you knocking one back. Society as it stands just finds more ways to pile stress and removes ways to let it off. Is it any wonder people are snapping so often?

 

Good post. I wish I could disagree with you on most of it but I can't. What you say, whether I like it or not, is true.

I come from a different era. I was raised on the Res, and my early role models were crop dusters, loggers, truck drivers and cowboys. They'd all fight. You could get a good fist fight just about anytime anywhere. If the guys couldn't get to town on Saturday night fist fighting was an alternative form of recreation.
That was then, this is now. I'm 75 and I live in a world where school children shoot and knife each other. Looking back at my childhood and young adulthood I didn't realize what an innocent world I lived in.
I don't know where we're headed, I don't really have any answers, and I won't live long enough to see any major changes but something better change. Something better change soon.

I used to could smell the aroma over a coupla miles west, rolling east, at night.

 

I had a rent a cop reach for his gun on me in the TA at Atlanta a few years ago. He claimed I owed money for three days of parking when I had only been there one night. The ticket the parking attendant handed me when I drove in was a zerox slip with the date hand written, it was dated two days earlier. Part of that was my fault. I didn't even look at it. When I was leaving, there was a fat, heavy accent speaking slob at the gate who took the slip and my purchase receipts and shook his head muttering "Mo mon-ee, yo bin heah three day" I told him the h**" I have and drove through. The gate arm was already broken so I got out. He was reaching for his Glock as I fed him my exhaust fumes.

Yeah, I had to go back & read that part again. We've had a couple people shot here inside businesses, stupid as #$^*^I.
