587 is the new version of the 387. More tech, better aero, nothing major though. Kinda like comparing a Fl columbia to a FL Cascadia.

There are huge differences between a Columbia & a Cascadia. The improvements from a 387 to a 587 are more incremental, but then Peterbilt had a way better place to start from.

Cascadia is just a higher tech truck with a bigger grill and better aero. My Columbia is just as big on the inside. On cascadia, they made a bigger grill, got rid of the visor, changed the mirrors...nothing major.

I think a better comparison would be FL Century and Columbia.

    Boardhauler Thanks this.

I used to own a 2005 Columbia, in January I bought a 2009 Cascadia. They are totally different trucks. The Cascadia is so much improved it's not funny. The only things I don't like are the multi-plex wiring system and the jake brake switch on the steering wheel. I love the lack of rattles, the redesigned dashboard that is not disintegrating into shards of plastic before my eyes, and the solid doors to name just a few things.
