I asked for clarification and this is how it was explained to me....This really only affects home time. Here is why. A lot of drivers live in Wisconsin....when they go home, they drop their trailer in Gary and bobtail there. so now Gary is flooded with empty trailers that should be at customers getting loaded...now this is really a 2 edged sword in my eyes because we're basically doing the legwork for half the load for a company driver to grab a preload thanks to us providing the shipper with a trailer...but still...be thankful they don't charge us a rental fee for their equipment like a lot of lease companies do. As far as loads go...they'll do the same thing they always do if you choose a load far away, they'll take the pickup empty from your last load and you'll bobtail to either the next load if it's a drop and hook or in some cases and liveloads you'll just grab and mt once you're in the vicinity of your next pickup. Same stuff that happens now.
Not coming to Schneider at this time.

@Vincent2254, the contract language is being sorely misinterpreted. I signed my contract on 9/24 and it has been business as usual for me. The agreement states that if you deliver a load & go OOS, you have the option of EITHER leaving the empty trailer at the last shipper, OR spotting a trailer to a place that SNI designates, & SNI will pay you $25 to spot the trailer. IF you choose to leave the empty trailer at the last receiver, you must agree to return to the last receiver (or to a place within 100 miles from the last receiver) to acquire an empty trailer when you go back in service. You CAN refuse to spot a trailer, as long as you return to the last receiver to get an empty trailer. You CAN leave the empty trailer at the last receiver & bobtail home, as long as you return to the last receiver to get an empty trailer. Just 3 days ago, I delivered my load & called to have the Pickup Empty task removed from my workflow so I could bobtail 95 miles home off-duty (on Line 5) & start my 34 hour break while I was driving home. I did not have another load booked. SNI removed the Pickup Empty task & explained that I would have to return to that receiver to get an empty trailer after my 34 hour break. I had no problem with that. When I did book my next load, they added a Pickup Empty task at that same receiver. I bobtailed back & picked up the empty. No problem. No $250 fee. 2 weeks ago, I delivered a load to Jacksonville, FL. Before I left to head to Jacksonville, I got a "heads up" Qualcomm message from the box planners, advising me that there were no empty trailers within 200 miles of Jacksonville. I called & asked if I could just bobtail home (335 miles) so I could start my 34 hour break. No trailer to assign, I bobtailed home, I DID NOT return to Jacksonville to get an empty trailer after my 34 hour break ended. No $250 fee.

If you leave an empty at the last receiver & don't spot an empty and don't return to the last receiver to get an empty before proceeding to pick up your next load, the $250 trailer repositioning fee applies. If you don't get an empty & choose to bobtail to your next shipper or get an empty trailer in the market of the next shipper, the $250 trailer repositioning fee applies.

I still believe it will depend on who your ICA is on all this. One will get charged while another won't for the exact same thing.

Sometimes the spot move works to your advantage. I was picking up a relay in Tunkhannock. They had me drop my mt at Proctor and Gamble. Then I bobtailed to the yard to pick up my relay. Sometimes it works... sometimes not. lol

So over the past couple weeks, I've talked with about 15 different IC's in those conversations I've asked them about the new contract and what do they thin of the changes. Every single one of them asked, "what changes? "
They all said they didn't see anything different in this contract from the last and when they asked there ICA, they were told nothings changed, just sign it right away and send it in. These IC's I've talked to have been here for a few years already and weren't newbs.
One guy got down right pzzed at me for telling him the new contract was different and that I was lying.
The fact that so many didn't read it or just believed there was nothing changed scares me and also answers the question as to why there really isn't that huge of an up roar from the IC's.
On another note, today I have received 4 qc messages and 2 emails asking me to send in my contact right away, it's urgent that I do it today. Wow are they desperate to get me locked in to there contract. I'm sure they can't wait to try and charge me that $250 fee for all the loads I book that are over 100 away from my last.PoleCrusher, TennMan and Tombstone Thank this. -

I've been running the new contract since I signed on. I've booked a few 100 mile deadheads and have gone home a few times. No empty moves...no dropping empties to pick one up closer to the pickup point.
Frankly I think it's a lot of uproar over nothing. When one of you actually gets fined the $250 then I will be all ears.1girl1truck and drvrtech77 Thank this.
