I see some companies with what would sound like terrible pay until you see that instead of a $1000/week lease payment like most companies you only pay 500/week. So the revenue is less but you'll net about the same.
I think companies do this so that its nearly impossible to lease a truck from a third party. They want everything done in house.
I could be wrong, I tend to stay on the bright side more often than not.

I asked my old ICA about some info on dedicated accounts for O/O today. No info back yet. She says there is a waiting list to get back on Choice. I can promise you I won't be on the list though with that kind of crap. It'll be dedicated or go somewhere else.stevep1977, Drifter42, Pork Chop Express and 5 others Thank this. -

So I delivered a load north of Salt Lake City and my next load picked up 3.7 miles down the road. Well when I go drop my trailer the customer tells me they have no more empty trailers available. I look at my qc workflow and also notice I don't have a pick up empty task. So I look at my next load and find they wanted me to drive 90 miles south to pick up an empty trailer so I could then drive 95 miles north to my next load that was only 3.7 miles away from my last drop! Oh it got better, they customer they wanted me to get the trailer from closed at 1800 and it was 2100 and they didn't open again until monday.
Now I call support shift and explain to them how stupid this is, plus it's going to make me late for my load I am planned to pick up at 0700 on monday. Support shift tells me, "Oh that's ok, your monday load is not a critical load and you can pick up anytime between 0700 and 1700 on monday." I know this is a bunch of BS because I was on the with my ICA and the planners while they were confirming my monday load, which is a live load and had hasked them to schedule the pick up for later in the day. The planners said the customer needed it picked up at 0700. And to top it off they support shift person tells me I should call my ICA on monday about that load.I just about lost it on that phone call with her. The load fracking picked up on monday, how stupid is that!
So now I am extremely pizzed off because it looked like I wasn't going to make that monday load and that load was getting me back to Houston for appointments that I can't reschedule. Of course support shift is telling that's my only option for getting an empty and can I drive down there anyways and see if there is an empty and do whatever needs to be done to take the trailer.
I was lucky, my friend was driving home from work and he was only 5 minutes from that location and offered to go see if there was anything there. He gets there and the place is locked up, no one home and the only trailer he can see is backed to the loading dock with a red light flashing next to it. I called to support shift again and tell them what's up, the next story I get is that the box planners are saying there are no empties in the salt lake city area right now. To many customers with loaded trailers that aren't unloading them in a timely fashion. Of course I also can't bobtail to my next pick up because that customer won't release the load unless you have an empty.
Yeah, I bobtailed there anyways, it was only 3.7 miles from my last drop. I get there and the guard tries to tell me that I can't pick up my load unless I have an empty. I plead with him and explain that schnieder doesn't have any empties in this region at all. He says no again. I then tell him that I have no way of getting an empty and he has a load that needs to be picked up so it's delivered on time, what is more important?
He tells me how they have 10 loads that are suppose to go out tomorrow that they don't have empties for yet and he really needs an empty. We stand there staring at each other for a few minutes and then he finally caved in
.
This whole can't find an empty thing is stupid and then the "hey, lets make the IC drive almost 200 round trip because that won't eat up his clock at all" pizzes me off even more.Yes I might get paid for the box hunt, but it's not worth it when it kills what time you have left on your clock for the day!
