    That's exactly why I wasn't going all over Dallas at 1600 yesterday. I needed to get back to Houston by 1000 this morning and that extra time searching would have prevented that.

    It was bad enough other truckers couldn't keep their trucks upright and delayed me getting home last night

    With a paid off truck this program prints money. I sometimes wish I brought my truck over instead of selling it and leasing....although I believe I made the right decision for me I still can't help and imagine my settlements without that truck payment.

    Brother, it's like a freekin' money machine. I've never "worked" so little and got paid so much. I've never been happier. I've been home every weekend since August and still doing $2k ++. Except for next week. Had the choice of going to my niece's wedding, (she and her 'partner' are getting hitched), or go to Laredo.......thought to myself, "man, it's been a while since I went to Laredo........". So, looks like I'll miss the blessed nuptials. Bummer. I got tacos to look forward to though........there's always an upside.

    Mine is close to being paid off, After it is ill be sticking what was coming out in a truck payment into maintenance for a while. I want a nice buffer to protect my newly owned investment.

    The fact of the matter in this instance under the terms of the contract, he was not required to shuttle a trailer around and wasn't subject to the $250 fine. He didn't book his next load over 100 miles away from the previous delivery. That's not to say that the box planner took advantage of him, they did. However, he easily could have refused in this instance since his next load was only 9 miles away. It was well short of the 100 mile threshold. The driver in this instance was taken advantage of and a simple refusal would have gone unpunished.

    With that said, let's remember that the punitive language added to the contract was directed towards particularly abusive lease operators, and this knowingly includes active posters on this board, all of which will remain unnamed in public by me.

    As a semi-disgruntled former Schneider lease operator, I have to give the company at least some kudos. They held onto my managed maintenance funds for the FULL 45 day period following termination. However, based on my calculations, they ended up paying out a "fair" amount to compensate me for my managed maintenance account. Yesterday I received a $6300 pay out for my maintenance account. That amount was fair enough imo to put Sfi in good standing in my mind and I feel at the very least they are an ethical organization under the circumstances.

    With that said, certain abusive lease operators have caused the new lease terms that have been put in place by Schneider. Just like idle restrictions were put in place for company drivers based off abusively excessive idlers, independent contracts face similar repercussions from abusive ics. A few bad apples always ruin things for the many.

    I do miss the freedom of being an ic. I will be looking for opportunities elsewhere. Or perhaps DFO is looking for a business partner to start up our own authority lol. His mechanical knowledge at the very least could be most useful to any entrepreneur.

    @stevep1977

    You're correct I could have refused.

    But because of the terms of the contract, it's important to be on your ICA's good side, so you have some leverage when its really needed.

    And yes they are after the ICs who refuse to cooperate regarding the trailer pool.

    The language in the contract could have been written better to address more specifically those who cause problems, but SNI took a different approach, making it so heavily weighted in their favor that an IC can't risk getting targeted wether they deserve it or not.
