I got some clarification on this same scenario. I was told that if you put in that you are going home, i.e. set your NAT/NAL for your home location prior to delivery. They (box planners) are NOT to send you in opposite direction with an empty move!!! If they try to do that, call in and they will change it. Or they will remove p/u empty from W/A. If you bobtail the 200 miles home, they are to get you an empty within 100 miles of home. No fines.

All I was told was that I was at the mercy of the box planners lol

I bobtailed home 400 miles Saturday for home time. I had a load but it cancelled I dropped mt at shipper per w/a and bobtailed home.

I am leaving today in opposite direction and they are trying to send me back to the last location I bobtailed home from.

So for this load I would have 700 plus miles of bobtail/deadhead combo to get mt and then go 20 miles from my home.

I will let everyone know what I'm told by ICA.

Ok did not have to return to my previous delivery location.
ICA took pu mt off from there and sent me local.
    NO CHARGE

But I do believe it could become an issue based on the conversation with him in the future depending on how the IC board reacts to trailer moves.

I bobtailed to my next pick up per customer request so I did not have an empty with me I had already dropped my trailer in Lynchburg.

If I were to have taken an empty without being told too then I could be charged the 250 repositioning fee.

So for this time I've caught a break I do hope it continues to work this way.

I can only imagine had I been dealing with 3rd shift what may have happened.

    But I digress.

Decided to go ahead and take 2 days off. Getting unloaded in bowling green, ky. I live 140 miles west of here. Called ICA, said I'm going home for 2 days. Having me take the trailer home. They usually bobtail me. No trailer hunt Saturday, no charge. Off to a good start.
