ya know, I try to get along with folks around here (as we all should), and many times that means disregarding some comments and posts. That said, sometimes one feels overwhelmingly to call BS!!!
Red, there is no possible way, unless you're in Alaska, that you would have to bobtail 700 miles to get an mty. None. Are you asking us to believe that you drove a day and a half to get an mty?? Really?? Furthermore, while it's entirely believable that they would put that work assignment on you (keeping in mind that we're working with humans here), if you didn't pick up the phone and say, "ummmmm, look guys..........", then I guess you needed the practice. There is something really, really wrong with this story.
Not coming to Schneider at this time.

I never said nothing would change, I said I don't know.
Who am I to know what Schneider will or will not do, I don't think they know what's they're doing half the time lol.
Going in and out of service and picking loads over 100 miles deadhead away are from what I read about and avenues in which stated you could be fined if you don't do trailer moves as told (or go back where you went out of service from to get an MT).
If Schneider wants MTs at customers and not ICs hijacking them while out of service and etc I'm cool with that.
Just as I shouldn't take advantage of Schneider nor should they they take advantage of me.
Even before the whole "agreement" thing I always refused being taken advantage of and they tried a few times.
I don't recall anywhere in the agreement/contact that says Schneider is allowed to send us to the ends of the earth in any situation to bring an MT to a different customer that needs one more so than the one we booked with provided that it was booked with 100 miles of your previous customer.
In rickybobby's case I would have told Schneider to pound sand. Just me thoLast edited: Nov 7, 2015

I don't look at loads by $/mile. I look at cost vs revenue and profit. After my fixed cost and fuel I'll profit off this load $2,017. I know my numbers and how to look at these loads to meet my profit goals. That is the most basic business formula on how to run a business and that is what this is a business that you just happen to have a different view from your desk everyday.CaptainDaveG Thanks this. -
It's one thing to book yourself on a 700 mile deadhead, it's another thing entirely to make it sound as though Schneider made you do it to get an MTY. -
FatDaddy Thanks this.

Why should I Have told the to pound sand? I signed the new contract. I am playing by there rules, if they want us to be late on pickups and deliveries. I'm fine with that. -
Yep that's what I told them last week when I went 140 miles round trip for an mt, when the customer I delivered to had mt's and I was picking up in the same town I delivered at. I told them that timely pu and delv. of freight must be overrated. All I got was just send your eta when you get the load picked up. It's sad that moving mt's has taken priority over moving freight.

Another sad thing is, now when I'm picking freight, I always have this BS in the back of my mind now. Wondering if the cust. has mt's? Will I be able to get an mt when I get there or will the box planners say don't get one there, go here and get one? I have pretty much resorted to picking relays when I leave the house to avoid they no telling where they will send me for an mt to pick up a load that I may have otherwise taken. After that as my ICA told me, I'm at the mercy of the box planners. I delivered a load the other day to go home and was wondering where the hell they may send me to take an mt on the way home. I got the message that some of you may or may not have gotten. In a nutshell the last sentence says"please do not take an mt from this location". I bobtailed home and got a call yesterday asking me if i just bobtailed home or did the box planners have me do this? I was like Really? Was told they couldn't remember. I think they where looking for a way to slap that $250 on me. Either way it's a like it or leave it situation.I'm leaning to the latter for me. Mileage may vary.
TennMan and PoleCrusher Thank this. -
All I'm saying is this whole "contract" thing was about managing trailer pools in markets if we book 100+ miles away and new rules on when we go in and out of service.
It did not say Schneider has free rain to do whatever they want and take advantage of us in any situation.
