Not driven in 10 years, what should I do?

    That's what I've told him do far. I think the rates have scared him, but my be his best option.

    I can't speak for all, but ours does. It would be nice if there was a way around it. Open to ideas haha.

    Most will want to make sure there is compliance with the fmcsa regs, so if there is employment gaps, they have to be addressed for the insurance.

    getting his own authority may be more of a hassle than just working for someone else as a driver or just doing another job altogether.

    He can be hired on as a company driver no problem, just has to do a two week refresher in most cases.

    Do you know what companies do these refreshers? Does that mean signing an employment contract?

    Not sure about a contract but companies like Abilene offer refresher courses as well as other mega companies.

    He can probably go to a port or rail company and start driving within 2 hours.
