software has backup. you simply save your logs as a file. on a thumb drive, in your email, the cloud, whatever works.
Not enough hours in the day. Or night.

My bit of advice on this thread is this.
You are looking at it backwards. Plan your trip and make your log fit the plan. Just because you have elogs does not mean you have to use all of your hours every day. A lot of drivers hate elogs, many hate paper logs. I've used both and I can see advantages to both systems.
However, in either case, YOU are responsible for your time. Many factors are out of your control, even out of a generous trip plan. YOU have to determine when you can get to a certain point. Traffic, weather, DOT hassles, breakdowns, callous shippers / recievers. These things all happen and can't always be allowed for.
Do not hesitate to adjust your trip plan as needed and let whomever needs to know about the changes as soon as you can. Customer, dispatch, broker, whomever. They all have expectations and deadlines of their own, it's your job to do your very best to do your part, but in the end, it's also your job to run as safe and legal as you can.
There is a really good thread here on split logging, find it, study it. It will explain it better than I ever could. Learn the system and make it work FOR you instead of against you -
THANK YOU! I have delivery appointments early am and late pm tomorrow followed by a morning appointment 5 hours away and by plotting different scenarios I found a way to make it work by using the program. -
