First post on the forum and I thought maybe someone could help me out. I am planning on attending Southwest Truck Driver Training here in Vegas. My thought was I would pay for the training with our tax refund and than I would start looking for a job. I currently have a decent job here, great benefits with OK pay (not great), but I do not favor raising my kids here in Vegas. I was looking to go to Albuquerque NM and was wondering if anyone knows of some decent transport companies in that area. I have been haunting a lot of the posts on the forum and I see a lot of bitter and sweet on a lot of companies out there and it seems as if everyone has an opinion. So lets hear some! I will say I can take any orders as necessary, as long as they are not outrageous and I am a #### hard worker that can quickly adapt. Thanks to all for any help or suggestions.![]()

Here's two things that don't go together, "raising kids" and "truck driving".
-

-

The odds are better !!!!!!walstib Thanks this. -
Why are you "haunting" the posts? That's downright scary!!!
-
yes raising a family and OTR driving doesn't fit well your kids need you home... if you can go local that is the way to go -
It's bad enough not seeing my wife of 23yrs who isn't changing, I can't imagine missing the once in a lifetime changes young kids go thru being on the road...The money isn't worth missing those times...JMHO...Look for something local if you 'need' to drive...
-
by all means, get a local job. the times that you miss with your kids cannot be replaced.
-
What about dedicated routes? I have heard you are usually home on a regular basis. And what would be a good company for local driving? I would like to get any job just to make the move but my schooling and work experience is limited to mainly the security and law enforcement field. I used to work law enforcement but since I have left our credit has gone downhill and it is hard to get back in unless your credit is spotless.
