First post on the forum and I thought maybe someone could help me out. I am planning on attending Southwest Truck Driver Training here in Vegas. My thought was I would pay for the training with our tax refund and than I would start looking for a job. I currently have a decent job here, great benefits with OK pay (not great), but I do not favor raising my kids here in Vegas. I was looking to go to Albuquerque NM and was wondering if anyone knows of some decent transport companies in that area. I have been haunting a lot of the posts on the forum and I see a lot of bitter and sweet on a lot of companies out there and it seems as if everyone has an opinion. So lets hear some! I will say I can take any orders as necessary, as long as they are not outrageous and I am a #### hard worker that can quickly adapt. Thanks to all for any help or suggestions. :biggrin_25514:

Here's two things that don't go together, "raising kids" and "truck driving".

yes raising a family and OTR driving doesn't fit well your kids need you home... if you can go local that is the way to go

It's bad enough not seeing my wife of 23yrs who isn't changing, I can't imagine missing the once in a lifetime changes young kids go thru being on the road...The money isn't worth missing those times...JMHO...Look for something local if you 'need' to drive...

What about dedicated routes? I have heard you are usually home on a regular basis. And what would be a good company for local driving? I would like to get any job just to make the move but my schooling and work experience is limited to mainly the security and law enforcement field. I used to work law enforcement but since I have left our credit has gone downhill and it is hard to get back in unless your credit is spotless.

Go to Atlanta Georgia. Their PD hired a wanted bank robber last year. Shouldn't be that hard to get a job with them!!
