Yep, I have bobtailed quite a distance a few times. One time from SC back to Detroit, without a plate. I put a piece of copy paper in the front windshield, wrote "In Transit" on it and taped it to the glass, no one ever bothered me, and I think every scale house was open to boot.

I been driving for four years now. And only had to explain my logs once. That was in Cali. Get out of cali. Don't get pulled over. Should be good to go. Speaicaly in a bob tail.
Just my opinion. Also. Orientation may want a copie of your logs. So keepem simple and clean.
Left va. Went to Indy. No qual comm. Or phone log or paper. So when I was asked for them I told them I flew in and the boss dropped me off -
