I was all set to go to Springfield on Sept. 15. The wife has some medical issues and the doctor set a date for surgery for her...you guessed it...SEPT 15!!

I had to let my recruiter know...just about killed me. She had already made an exception for me to be able to go in September instead of August like they wanted me to. Do you guys think I am gonna get blacklisted with them because of this? I would like to re-apply once all of this is over.

This could go either way. You won't know until you try. But try to get everything else out of the way before reapplying.

FWIW, I salute you for putting your wife first. But I seriously doubt that the company will feel the same way...

I have a clean record...no arrests no violations of any kind on my record so I have that going for me. My recruiter was very nice and told me to reapply and that she would talk to me then. I have her email address and will be sure to contact her when I re-apply. I even went so far as to offer to pay for the reports they had already run on me so that I dont get a black mark next to my name and they know I am not just playing around.

Keep in touch with you're recruiter... might send her a thank-you email for her work so far.

Doctors did a sonogram on her and saw a mass. Testing revealed that it is not cancer so that was a relief but they do want to get it out.

Any company who wouldn't want you to put your wife's health first isn't worth working for. What would they do if you were on the road and something happened? Attend to your wife first and then worry about the job.

Family first above all. Any outfit that doesn't understand that shouldn't be in business.

Arrange loads/repowers to get you home ASAP. It's never been an issue at Prime.

BTW, I asked my FM last Tuesday if he could arrange a load for me running through Denver so I could attend a friends' memorial service on Sunday the 23rd. I was in ME at the time - got me a load from upstate NY to Allentown PA. Next day I was put on a load that we routed through Denver, and arrived on Sunday morning.
