Ask your friend that's with US Express if he's on a driver unload account. Those Dollar General/Dollar Tree and similar accounts, the driver hand unloads.
Not much time and only one shot at this. Please help.

He's just been there one week, still in the truck with his trainer for 4 to 6 weeks before he goes solo. It's $650 per week while training, which is a lot less than the $900 per week I currently make at the job I have right now. He said they're telling him $1700 per week for OTR once he goes solo, but from what I'm reading everywhere, OTR is bad with USX and they don't make any miles or money. Seems they use OTR drivers as regional support for their dedicated accounts and they end up driving mostly northeast US. I expect to be lied to starting out. We're flatlined right now on the income to expense ratio with our bills, but my wife has some decent consistent income coming in pretty soon that will offset the time I'm getting my driving experience and not making money. I know it's gonna be hard for a while at first, but I can't learn to swim if I don't jump in. It will be nice to at least double the $900 per week I'm making now a year from now.Chinatown Thanks this.

He's still with his trainer who is on a dedicated Ollie's account. No way I'll hand load/unload anywhere myself.Chinatown Thanks this.

I thought I remembered you saying your back isn't good for driver unload.
That's a good question to ask any company. Don't say anything about a troubled back though or no company will hire you, even if the driver doesn't unload.lual Thanks this. -
Yes, I have a shattered disk in my lower back. I can do just about everything with no problems, but I can't load and unload trucks.

one of the reasons I do reefer is 100 percent no touch.

I had one load, wasn't refrigerated, but was in the reefer trailer. It was a load of crackers. The lumper fee was $250.00 so I unloaded it myself and wrote a receipt that I paid the lumper out of my own pocket. Next paycheck the $250.00 was added to my pay.wulfman75 Thanks this.

Cant do that anymore. It's all automated now. I lumped a trailer once my rookie year. Got 50 bucks. Said never again. LolChinatown Thanks this.

Yep, all automated now. I liked it at the time though, with a family to support, all that tax free cash really helped out.wulfman75 Thanks this.
