One time I go into this place to drop an empty and pick up a load. All the bills are sitting in the window. I sign them, give them to the shipping lady to process and go out and switch out trailers. It was a Friday night and I was ready to go home.

I come back in, and the lady is sitting behind her desk, about 10 feet from the window which is now closed, eating a sandwich. I yell through the glass "Im ready to go, are my copies of the bills ready?" She got an attitude with me and was like "Yeah theyre ready but Im on my lunch, you will get them in 45 minutes."

All she had to do was get off her ###### and hand me the bills but she made me sit there and wait 45 minutes! That was it. After her lunch, she handed me the bills and I was on my way. If there was a way I could of got into that office I would have.

And by the way, asking "Do you know how long until this trailer is ready" ANYWHERE, no matter how polite you say it, will get you a ######## response and a dirty look, never fails. Doesnt stop me though:smile:

If I have any concerns about the temp the product should be running at I contact dispatch. Sometimes I have had to pick up multiple picks and all the picks had a different temp they wanted the product run at. So I will call dispatch at this point. They will get with the receiver and find out what temp they want the product run at. This does two things, first it alerts dispatch to my worries about the load, second it takes some of the responsibility of the load off my shoulders. Any concerns about temp should not involve just you and the shipper or receiver, it should involve dispatch. Or if your an O/O, the broker. The point is protect the product and protect yourself from a major claim.

I remember when I was at Stevens that a driver dropped a Hershey load at a freight forwarder in Laredo in the summer time without filling up the reefer tank. It sat over the weekend and ran out of fuel. So you can guess what happened after that.

are you saying you have never exp a typo or wrong info on your bol?i sure have, besides that it's always best to ck and double ck.the shipper should know more about the load than you do.bol's or not,it's always good to grill a worker in a polite way to see if they know anything that might be speical about said load....

remember it's NOT ONLY YOUR JOB, BUT YOUR ### IF ANYTHING IS WRONG BOL'S OR NOT.sure you might get out of the trouble if the bol's are wrong, but why go through the mess?time is money..

yup rule of thumb for me is,bol, ask shipper, tell dispatch and let dispatch call shipper if need be and then let dispatch confirm on qualcom.i would be a fool to just trust the bol on questionable loads...
