Not stopping at weigh stations when it’s backed up to the freeway

I had to pull into the northbound I-15 scale today, even though it said "Scale Closed, Do Not Enter". They must have just changed the sign and several trucks were going 3 mph in the right lane. All four lanes were slamming on the brakes and a few trucks swerved from the 4 to 3 lanes, nearly causing an accident.

I saw all that happening as I was well behind a pack of tailgating trucks. Pure idiocy. I pulled over to the shoulder and eased on in to the scale with my Oversized load.

Sometimes I wonder if other truck drivers are thinking through what they are doing. Seems like a large number of drivers are only focused on getting ahead of the truck in front of them. Just GOTTA pass. No thought about what's coming up. Not reading any signs.

 

I was by there earlier today also, about 9am or so. Scales Closed.
