Some of the younger ones have no taste either! I'm only 26 and I know the movie.

I wished that was actually coming out, that'd make for one amuzing movie! (Yes, it's my modified version of that infamous scene of Hal and Dave from 2001 a space odyssey.)

Something that happens fairly often, is a guy, (or gal) gets into a similar situation to the OP, and decides to pull the plug. Then on down the road, they get to thinking about it and jump back on a truck again. But with little to no experience, and several months out of a truck, they wind up having to go back through school and training again.

I'm with others here who believe the OP should complete his training, and then give it a year or so. I know at 21, that seems like a long time. But it will pass quickly.

As for being homesick, hell every kid who leaves home to go to college, or into the service, or just takes his first job in a city away from home, goes through that homesickness. Even when home life sucked. This will pass.

    semi,
I know they made 2 of them as the 2nd one was just on tv but could not remember the name so I looked it up, 2010: space odyssey.
I also see there is a book 2061 space odyssey.

    or
you talking the "2017?; an interstate odyssey." movie?
Think the 2017 would be a good movie. Could do it like the Scary Movies spoof.

Sorry we got off point of the OP but I would stick it out till you get on your own truck for a bit.
I have a medical waiver so little harder getting a job and I am worried by the time I do get one I will need to go back thru school.
    Good luck.

2001: A Space Odyssey Stanley Kubrick. The "monolith", which I think depicted God, was the butt of jokes for years.

Once you get away from the trainer, it can get better. Alone, you learn to think on your feet,( or wheels :) ) I did OTR for one year and loved seeing the country, I hated the b.s. though. I found a local job that mostly fit my needs and wants, but, all respect due to captain canuck, I did it as a job, not a lifestyle. You won't see any trucking related stuff in my home. OTR is not the only aspect of trucking out there, If you are smart enough to go to school, do so, but keep your licence up to date to have something to fall back on. When the recession hit, I was delivering gas at a station in Berkley,Ca. and a guy walked by me stopped and said," You must be some kind of flunkie to do this for a living." I stood up, looked the guy in the eye and said, " I have a 9th grade education, and I'm making $80,000.00 a year in a recession proof industry, I sure am ########## stupid." 'Nuff said.

I know 2001 is like a classic but I have to say the movie sucks, I mean really sucks. Never listen to old guys and their movie recommendations, just terrible, lol.
