Hi ethos, I know, but remember when these movies came out, there was no digital enhancement, and these movies were cutting edge. Maybe not the caliber of today, where it's all digital, but back then it was stuff that made you think.

At one point there was just a guy in the background wearing a monkey suit just rolling around, I saw tennis shoes! Then we bypass the next 20 thousand years and go to space, then the dude goes through a tunnel and ends up in a house. I'm glad movies have come far.

Movies with graphic content (they look pretty) are all well and good, but the thinker stuff just takes the cake with me.

Thank you for all the responses, folks.

I've been bouncing back and forth since I made the original post. But my solo upgrade is right around the corner, and I think I'm going to withhold judgement until I get my feet wet off on my own. I really want this career to work out for a number of reasons, so I'll just suck this last bit up and see what happens. Hopefully I can find the right local opportunity in time. I love the job, I just wish I had more time for personal hobbies.

Again, thanks for the support. I hope I'm making the right decision.

Good luck to you, Truemac. You won't really know if you've made the right decision right away. The first thing you think will likely be, "OMG WHAT DID I GET MYSELF IN TO HERE!" But this WILL pass.

As far as more time for personal hobbies, unless you develop some you can take on the road with you, you are pretty limited. Even if you are working local and home every day, you will likely work such long hours that about all you'll want to do on your off time, is eat SSS and sleep! If you're lucky enough to have two days in a row off, that is about all the "hobby" time you will have.

I'm glad you're going to try it solo a bit. Let me say this, there is no way I could be in a truck with someone else. I need my own things, done mine own way... period.

What comes later is typically a much better situation... With a little experience you can land a much better paying job, that could get you home every weekend, if you so choose. This makes it much better IMHO.

    Good luck.

Good choice!!!! Its way different out on your own. I am a social person too. There are many different types of trucking, so I think you will find one that fits you. I have not worked one weekend since I started with Leavitts. BUT..... The longer I do this the more I like it. So much so I am moving to a different division that will keep me out a bit longer. You will make friends along the way and will have more people to communicate with than you want. I also have a lot of extra personal activities that I enjoy. I have noticed my time off now is QUALITY. As opposed to when I had a regular job. It took me about 6mo to get past that feeling of when it was new. It has become fun. Yah there are times hear and there that suck but that will happen no matter what career you have.
Also find a company that treats you well. Dont waist time at any place that doesnt.
    Good luck.

What division are you moving to that will keep you out longer? I run Canada all the time and am still home for most resets.

Only you know what is cooking in your "Pot". My two cents on your situation;;; continue past of your Trainee status......Get your Solo position.......build solo time.....and after One year solo.....((and during that year LOTS OF RESEARCH)) (and putting your personal life on Stand by)) There are good companies out there.....just have to find a SMALL carrier and then balance Life and Work......and you and your "wallet" will survive. ** This is a job for Hardcore Survivers.

    Big Don Thanks this.
