I like it since i sleep 5hrs top most of the time so with 2 off during when my 30 min break would be i end up with less wasted time. An hour for food and other stuff an hour power nap just works.
But it can bit one in the rear as well.
Wish we could do any split like pre 09 loved that and was always rested drove 5 slept 5 drove 6 slept 5 great combo
Not sure what to do... tired/sick told to run anyway

When I'm out on the road, I'm the boss. The office can bark and moan all they want at me, but I decide what I'm going to do when I'm behind the wheel. If I don't feel well enough to drive, I'm not doing it, period. Dispatch can't force me to do jack and I have $ put away so if it means my job, oh well. I told a dispatcher once who got mouthy with me that if I saw fit, I'd park the truck at the bottom of the Mississippi River. Never got an attitude from him again...

Can't you now take a 34 more than once a week? I thought that changed recently?
That's what I'd probably do if I got sick. I'd refuse the load and take a reset.
I'm not a driver yet though, so I don't know what I'm talking about.Montgomery Thanks this. -
Yes, you can now take a 34 hour reset as many times per week as you want. At the time we were only allowed one per week.
I did refuse the load but its hard to when you count on that load for money and they're counting on you to get it there. Unfortunately what they did to me was crappy. There's no reason for that. It took a week and two trips to the urgent care before I healed up enough that I could go back to work.
I will definitely be taking better care of myself in the future. -
Sorry if this is offensive but they didn't do a thing to you. You did it to yourself.
There is no excuse that you can come up with by being fatigued when you should have said "nope I am out of service until further notice". You control the situation within that truck and if you live so marginally, then maybe thinking about getting a job where you can go home and take a sick day or two off.
I know I sound like a dick but see there are things you needed to learn about who is in control and what you can and can't do. It doesn't matter what your dispatcher said and forget this crap about the freight needing to get somewhere, YOU endangered everyone around you by being sick and could have been sick enough to pass out while the truck was in motion not to forget if you were stopped, you would have been put out of service/cited for being sick and operating a vehicle, not to mention being out of service for the 34 hours because you are fatigued and get cited for that.Jumbo and Flybynight041 Thank this. -

Serious note. They are right, it's a harsh truth but if you have to make someone mad then make sure it's the person who can do you the least amount of harm:.. -
Sleep dude. Tell dispatcher that you are going to bed, that you no longer feel safe to drive. Put it on QC or PeopleNet. If they give you any grief call head of safety. That is better than three hots and a cot for the next 20 years because you fell asleep and killed some innocent person because you fell asleep.
okiedokie Thanks this. -
#1-The world won't stop if a load doesn't get delivered.
#2-You cant deliver a load if your upside down in a ditch.
#3-Companies will treat you like a red headed step child unless you demand respect as a professional driver. They could care less if you loose your cdl.dog-c, pattyj, Vilhiem and 1 other person Thank this. -
the "dude" is a "dudette" and this thread is 3 weeks old...lol.
