This is not intended to sound like I am bragging.
With so many folks struggling to get on with one company, I currently sit with 4 opportunities (3 in hand and 1 expected in next couple of days)
Werner and CRST - team situations
Windy Hill and WSE Transportation - solo situations
I have read all the posts. Done all the analysis I can and I have no idea which way I should go.
I plan to stay a minimum of 1 year wherever I end up. Hopefully longer.
Thoughts?
Not sure which way to go...Werner/CRST/WSE/Windy

I'd go with one of the solo gigs. Running team with someone sucks. Plus with team if your sleeping and he's driving and gets in a wreck or something along those lines. I like to have control over my life. just my .02

If wse is willis shaw express, I see no other company even CLOSE. Windy 2nd Werner and crst LAST..........

Are you an O/O? If so, are you leased on to a company? If yes, who?
If a co. driver, who do you drive for?
Just curious.
Thanks again. -

Yeah, I understand the farce that is a pre-hire.
I really don't want this to sound boastful but I am fortunate that I kept my nose clean during my life and really carry no baggage.
Never been to jail or even close and if I may say so myself, I am a pretty good driver (got my training in the woodyard of a large papermill squeezing trucks and trailers in places that some wouldn't believe).
Although a newb to the OTR world, I know that I will be a good driver just based on how I have done other things in my life. Again, not boasting, just have had good training and experiences along the way.
So, although I am pretty bummed about auto trannys in the WSE equipment, I am pretty sure I will accept their invitation to go to their orientation. From there it's just a formality.
I appreciate your thoughts. -
I'm a company driver, ran with alot of WSE drivers from an account in Ocala. They used to be pretty decent outfit !! Not sure anymore, but USED to be good........

Good luck, 94nole. -
WSE is pretty decent, I've been with them since August. Hauling reefer has its ups and downs, but it does give you the ability to pull dry loads as well. They keep me moving pretty steadily, and the few times I've needed hometime, they got me home in time. It does get boring driving an automatic, but other than that I have no real complaints.
94nole Thanks this. -
thanks for the feedback. I am pretty sure I'll be at orientation on the 2nd. The recruiter I am working with (Gavin Reynolds) speaks to me like a human being...totally unlike the conversations I've had with several others. Really down to earth kind of guy and he tells me the company is pretty much the same way. And cautiously...I believe him.
I figure people will always eat regardless of the economy so hauling food, etc. has to be a good thing.
A couple of questions for you...did you have experience when you started with them? how was your time with your trainer (if applicable)? how many miles are you averaging per week? What is your average length of load? Are you going to all 48? Do you spend much time sitting? Last question, other than the noise and maybe maintenance issues on a reefer unit, are there other issues?
thanks...it's good to hear from one who is actually in a WSE seat.Last edited: Oct 24, 2009
