This is precisely why I avoid exercise as much as possible. I never did buy into the whole "it's good for you" argument.

I agree; excercise adds only on average 6 months to ones life, so looking at the big picture, it's not worth it. All those hours excercising could be more enjoyed if spent in a strip joint smoking Cuban cigars.

Hi morpheus, if it's any consolation, it gets worse from here on in. The "right shoulder, left hip" are classic truck driver maladies. I'm 61 and my right shoulder "clicks" and when my back goes out ( couple time a year) it's always the hip area. As much as I poo-poo automatics, If I ever drive a truck again, it may have to be an automatic, as when my back goes out, I doubt I'd be able to even push in a clutch. When it comes to the alternative to aches and pains ( death) I'll take the aches and pains. Welcome to old age, and with that, you have a safe New Years too.

After 3 near death accidents( cars & motorcycles) and 15 years in the truck I learned that a good mattress & good nutrition will cure what ails you. Fresh homemade pineapple juice, coloital minerals, carrot Apple lemon juice with a shot of cayenne pepper! Ahhhhhh yes! I'm 25 again!

While i enjoy a good stogie every now and then...exercise is not about extending your life...it's about the quality of life you want to have, with the time you have left!

48.. arthritis showed up in my left thumb joint about 6 months ago. I guess it came from predominantly gripping the wheel with that hand over the years.

Very painful. I know it could be so much worse.

I treat with ibuprofen and a squeeze ball that I use for an hour when it flares up. Really helps.
