I'm 25, been pulling wrenches for nearly 8 years now and it pays to look after yourself for sure. Even with using jacks, hoists, cranes etc. it still beats a guy down. I've been using kneeling mats a lot more in the last couple years and it definitely helps out.
not to sound old here... any of you deal with arthritis?

Left knee. Take OTC arthritis pain meds.

I have osteoarthritis in both my right and left shoulder. It goes down my left arm down to my left elbow. I have an old football injury in my right knee that has got worse as I entered my 50s. I also have a badly torn rotator cuff in my left shoulder as well. My VA Doctor has tried to put me on opioids but I can't take any of them including tramadol, so I do the best I can with the pain by taking NSAIDS. It sucks getting old!

For upper back/ neck/ shoulder arthritis give up the arm rests. <---seems counter intuitive right?
As it was explained to me, over an extended period of time in a captains like chair... The natural progression from relaxing the arms becomes a support for your upper body over the many hours we spend in this suspended state. (Almost like a drunk stabilizing himself at the bar w/ his elbows, then becomes the means to keep his head up)
I hate hearing good posture, and eat good doctors but it really does eliminate the pain I had.
Good luck my fellow old farts!blairandgretchen Thanks this. -

Trucking is hard on the body. Alpine ski racing wasn't one of my better choices in life.
