Ok so ive read the fourms and seen the standard (chevy vs ford) arguments from ppl about trucking companys. What i would like to know is who is good to work for and who to stay a way from. Now i know that some one is gonna say one comapany is bad and one company is good but like the Ford vs chevy argument most ppl would rather own a dodge if the could not own a ford or chevy, who is good here and whos is bad and who does the general populace think is ok.

Also i dont have much money but im thinking of getting on with USA trucking, (and by much money i mean 500 in the bank if that.) So if every one could come to some sort of agrement as to what a Green should do the advice is welcome, also i hope alot read this and post beacuse if i get 600 posts saying CR england is bad im not gonna work for them.

Also could some one recomend a good CB radio and explain some trucker terms to me like reefer.

Well, two companies to stay away from for certain are CR England and CRST.

If the only option you really have is to go with a company training program, the do your research. No matter how you do your training, find the company that best suits what YOU need.

We do have a couple of trucker lingo threads on here, but I don't remember where they are right now.

Reefer is a refrigerated trailer used to haul frozen or refrigerated food stuffs.

Take my advice with a grain of salt cause I am not a driver yet & haven't worked OTR yet, but when I was looking into companies to work for i'd say every company has pro's & con's

Some pay more per mile(but don't let this be your only factor in deciding who to work for), but you may get less miles.

    some pay for layovers,loading/unloading & some don't

some allow spouses to ride with you, others do not

some allow pets, others do not

some are really good with hometime others are more for people who like to be OTR a lot, etc.

Some have nicer trucks, others don't, etc

Some do hazmat, some don't, etc

Some have mostly/exclusivly Auto tranny's, others mostly/exclusivly manual trans

It just comes down to what you want personally.

There is a company perfect for your interest/goals, it just may take some digging around to see who matches up best with what you plan to get out of it.

It took me almost a month before I decided on a company I think i'll match up good with.
