When your employer no longer desires your services and decides to terminate YOU, does he give you notice? When was the last time you heard "Two weeks from Friday you're fired!" Doesn't happen.
Therefore...
When I no longer desire the services of my employer and decide to terminate them as my employer, I give them the same notice they would give me. Why is that such a difficult concept to grasp?

I have no choice,I have to give 2 weeks notice because they owe me a retirement package.
-
Most companies won't pay your owed vacation pay without a two week notice. Its in my companies handbook.
-
As the comedian said, I give them two weeks TO notice that I'm not there.
If an employer can terminate you immediately, the same tactic works in reverse.Last edited: Apr 25, 2011
Shaggy Thanks this. -
Why is it that all is fine and dandy until one side decides to move on for whatever reason, and then the worst comes out in the company? Nasty bitterness, as if you were the worst thing since sliced bread and now they are going to let you know it.
IMHO, not enough drivers exact revenge on these sitting ducks. These companies that treat people like crap leave freight and equipment laying all around this country as if no one will bother it.
I tell you what, Pride Transport of SLC will rue the day I find something of theirs staged, dropped or otherwise unattended! -
It all depends on your contract. Read it carefully before you sign it, or give notices. If it says that you have to give notice in advance- you should. They can stop your payment or charge you or what ever it is stated there.
But also read the part about them letting you go, if it is stated that they can let you go at any time for what ever reason, than there is nothing you can do about it. If it doesn't and you really want to go in to that you can sue them. -
I always give 2 week notice. I did have a company that I quit from only work me about a week and a half until they could figure out a way to get me home without costing them or me anything.
For me, it's a courtesy thing. I used to be a fleet manager at a local company and nothing sucks worse than having a driver call and quit without notice. Now you have a truck sitting there with a load and no driver.
I don't care what companies do, give notice. If they want to let you go then and there, fine. You did the professional thing.MadMac, Bucktrucker and The Challenger Thank this. -
