Well I passed the final 3 tests today.

    A few weeks back:
Permit passed written test and Doubles, Triples, Tankers, and Hazmat

    Today
    Pre-Trip - 98 out of a possible 100
Backing and 90 Degree Doc - got 100
    Road Test - 98 out of 100

CDL Class A in Hand, now I just need to find a good seat

I know that I still have more research to do, so I am still looking for the good seat.

Also, thank you everyone for the input you have given me and to the others out there too.

Congrats on the license! It does not take much reading to find the least desired firms... all others are good enough until you have a year or more experience, and then you will have more options.

If you follow the footsteps of the 2% club, you will be alot better off.

I normally don't put this in print, because most drivers either don't believe it, or they

are too lazy to follow this advice.

Just forget about ALL those big name bottom feeder companies. And I guess from what you said, forget Crete also.

Do like Elendil and a few others did. They went out, on their own, and did alot of legwork.

He got a job at a company nobody has ever heard of.

Fresh out of CDL school, and making 36CPM, $1200 a week !!!!

Only about 1-2% of the new drivers do this, but depending on what you want

out of life, it's there if you want it !!!!

Research Elendil posts on here, they contain some very good tidbits of info.

Thank you and I will look into it too. I just don't like the games it seems most people have to play in order to get out there and drive for a good company.

Good job HD! The ones that excel on the testing is a good indicator you'll do well.

In your opinion, is it possible to get away from bottom feeders if one wants to be doing trips from coast to coast and seeing the country, even if one has no experience?

So far I have a family friend that is willing to hire me to haul scrap metal, but I really want to see the country, so should I take lower pay for that opportunity, or go entirely for the better money but possibly dedicated route?

You should see the country if that's what you really want to do. However, if you have a wife and kids it may behoove you to take the dedicated route. If you're single and unattached you may as well take off. Otherwise, you'll find yourself bored with regional and wishing you'd gone otr. Whatever you decide to do stay with it at least 6mo. to a year. You don't want to job hop.
