Hang in there.
As far as women in trucking, there were three in our trucking school. It was no place for them but they stuck with it and hung in there and graduated with a A license (CDL later)
I suppose Ive gotten a little tolerant. But not too tolerant. I expected just as much from a female as I would out of a male allowing for certain biological differences.
Formulating a plan for the future and then following through with it is a huge challenge. Im working on it myself and some nights like tonight I get tired and ask myself why do I bother rolling this stone more than halfway up the mountain? because Im stubborn and don't know any better.
I share this. I have never had before in my lifetime been faced with the challenges of trying to build a life off the big road and actually try to thrive a little bit in a Nation determined to ... deny us. I better shut up now because there is just too many divided peoples among us.

And yes x1heavy our good Catholic Union families thought we would follow in their foot steps but they didn't see the recession of the early 80s when we couldn't hardly get a job in a car wash lol
x1Heavy Thanks this. -

I wish I never started to read this forum. I went from feeling like I'll be doing something respectable and honest to feeling like a fool for going to cdl school. After reading the replies I'd rather go back to the dead end jobs where I live and work until I'm dead. I'm going to see what partial refund I can get from the school. Thanks smh

Yeah danch you are right and I don't envy young people that want to get into this biz ..I was once considered the new breed and now I'm lookin for an exit try though I'll never be able to completely do it .
I had challenges in my early days like bad roads , lousy truck stops etc but I've come to the conclusion I had it better when I started in the 80s..x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Now now, cheer up Danch.
100 people wanna drive a truck. 60 will get a chance to learn, rest will not pass DOT medical. 30 will make it past three months after the rest are burned out by dispatch knowing there are 50 more filling the orientation trailer being driven to a lather willing to put in 70 hours for 300 bucks net. 20 will make it one year. 5 will be killed, injured or mental that leaves 15. 5 years later 6 is left. half of that will make it 10 years.
Trucking is incredible. When done right. But by the same token it is seriously hard sometimes. That is when Humans dig down, find some moxie and throw chains on the tires and keep going.
It's not for everyone. I have said over and over that it's in my blood. I don't know much of anything else. Actually I do. But Trucking is something that I do not regret. Medical advances in the future might have be back involved in the industry believe it or not. Either that or robot trucks will take the place of humans.
Ive played video games on trucking which is essentially rough 3D simulations of trucks. Pretty good when you consider picking up a trailer, using mirriors, docking and so on. Not too accurate in shifting to allow a little leeway in gameplay for the kids.
It already is being advanced to the point in which the US Military has working trucks capable of getting A to B anywhere on planet earth with no human in sight. The rigs have demonstrated the ability to avoid other cars, avoid humans and learn how to use the land itself where it is possible to drive without a road.
The future is going to be good, or it's going to be bad. But you do not have permission to get up in the morning and hate yourself or moan about the things that are not quite working out the way you would want to.
It's probably compared to what I remember from the 60's and 70's a very poor economy right now. Sometimes I wish I can get into a time machine and go back to 1970 or even the 50's things were more alive in those days.
It's just as well life is so hard to be living. Giving up is the easy part and the worst mistake you can make.
