Anyone relying on the government for retirement has made some very bad choices throughout their lives.

It's not just the immigrants. We grow plenty of born and raised Americans hauling dirt cheap freight with ragged out trucks.

I left trucking and got an Associates Degree in computer security. I've had trouble trying to break into the field because these IT companies have insanely high requirements.

I'm going back to trucking, but I'm hoping this time to save up money and just move out of Michigan.

I don't know what kind of requirements your speaking of, but normally as it becomes more difficult to acquire workers, requirements are usually lowered. I'm betting if all of those auto assembler, and support jobs were still in Michigan, you'd find much more demand from employers for the kind of work you are seeking.

Or were presented with very few opportunities. Before SS each person was on their own to provide for the elder years. Over half of elders lived in poverty.
