I'm currently a student at a trucking school in Central NY. I love it, but since Im going for Class B (hence the name) permit/license, my course is ONLY 90 hours. Class A classes are 360 hours or 602 hours, depending on the amount of information you want to learn.

Anyway. I was never a fast learning student, especially when reading and doing practice tests. For general knowledge, I've done quite well. Last weekend was first 2 days of classes (Classes are Sat + Sun 8am to 6pm). Since then, Ive spent 95% of my time awake (when not working) studying to pass the class test of general knowledge and to prepare for the permit test.

What I'm really interested in is TIPS to help study. After spending hours and hours in front of the same practice test I mastered it. But, it does no good to "memorize" the test answers (as Im assuming the actual tests are worded differently). In class, we even highlighted important parts of the CDL manual. Still, its hard to remember EVERTHING.

So, if anyone has any tips on studying for more than just general knowledge, I'd like to know. I only have 4 more weekends before graduation (3 of them are behind the wheel training, but must get permit prior to doing that).

    Thanks for any help.

I've been doing them. General knowledge is the only one of 6 I passed with 80%. Others I've had 57% to 70%. Failing, but a start. Thanks.

    Thanks.

I actually encountered a little problem. Not saying this sites tests are bad, because the tests the school gave me could be just as wrong. But, one question (exacted wording) has a different answer than the one practice test I got in class. Its kind of hard to study when ones theres 2 "right" answers to the same question.

Posted them up in another section.

Just passed my permit test and endorsements. Passed air brakes, tank, hazmat and tow truck. Thanks to this site for providing practice tests help me pass air brakes, hazmat and definitely tank. I took metal coil, but thats the only one I failed. It's all good though!
