ALWAYS cross the border as early as you can. That way, if there's a problem...

    Times to your drop:
    - From Great Falls, MT 5.5 hours (if only 5-10 min at border)
    - 3.25 hours from border
    - 2.25 from Tim Horton's at Lethbridge
    - 45 min from the Petro-Pass at Aldersyde
    - 30 min from Flying J

Of course, all times traffic/weather dependant.

As mentioned, I would stay at the Petro-pass, because I like quiet (WTH do I drag a reefer again? :biggrin_2552:) If you want wifi, showers, laundry, etc., then stop at the Flying J. There's a (24 hr?) convenience store (though they probably sell as much truck-related stuff as a typical Flying J/Petro/etc.) and A&W at the Petro-Pass, but I don't think there's showers.

my suggestion is cross the day before. you never know if the load will clear customs or not. this way you have some lead time. from the border to the south east part of calgary, it will take you approx. 3 1/2 hours to get there.

Oh, I guess another thing to mention with running in Canada....... no 11/14 rule. Its a 13/16 rule. That comes into effect as soon as you cross the border. If you cross the border with 10.5 hours driving time on your logbook you can now stretch it to 13. Git 'er done!!

There is a 1 hour time difference from mountain to central time. We are 1 hour back from Central time.

Umm ... not quite. It's 13/14 with a 16-hour "workshift" that overlays it (I wouldn't even worry about the 16). Our two cycles are 70/7 and 120/14. If on 70/7 a 36-hour reset is mandatory. If on 120/14 you must take a 24 after 70, and then a 72-hour reset is mandatory on or before the 120.

I just reset my 70 here when I cross over on 3-11 I should still have about 42.0 on 70 maybe slightly less.

    Here a question ..

If I am legal on US log when enter and don't require a reset and be able to leave with about 30-32 left on 70 after delivery I should be ok still right or will I be required to adapt to Canadian log rules for time spent which should be less than 12-14 hrs total possibly up to 20 hrs depending on surcumstance like weather etc

    Thanks

It's simple ... you're subject to the rules of whatever jurisdiction (country) you are in. Therefore, Canadian rules apply when you're up here.

I already gave you instructions to the door ... if I have to drive it there myself, I charge. :biggrin_25525:

An alternate with a fewer lights and less PITA is Deerfoot to Southland, west (just up the hill) to Blackfoot. Then north to 58 Avenue, and the rest applies.

Run all your logged time just like you do in the states, this way you don't get screwed at the first US scale after you leave Canada. We are allowed to run more but have to watch hours of duty when heading south into the states, this is why most drivers up here float around the US rules to save the hassle of trying to reset to cross the border.
