No, but they hired my with about 8 months of experience and a pristine driving record. They seem pretty picky about who they hire but I can tell you this company values character quite a bit, show them that you aren't afraid to work and be honest and upfront with them and you should be in good shape. They were impressed that most of my experience starting out was in the northeast and I had no reportable incidents. I spent most of my first winter in PA and NY with a mega carrier. Not to worry though... with Nussbaum I might get an occasional load that way but they generally stay in the center of the map.
Most of these guys posted a few years ago so things may have changed a bit:
-Minimum is now $1000 per week.
-Automatic trans on all "non-rental" trucks
-Mostly newish Freightliner Cascadia with some Volvos on their way out
-You can take the truck home, I've probably been to the terminal a grand total of 4 times in the past 6 months and Nussbaum pays for my parking space (can't park where I live)
-They used to be union, they aren't anymore and people like it that way... management is good here
-Pay is on a sliding scale based on mileage- they pay for extra stuff like detention and tire unloads (you need to be physically fit). I usually average about $1200/wk- which is about 950 after my deductions.
-You'll run hard, I only work 5 days a week which is their standard and I almost ALWAYS hit my 11 or 14 limit on a daily basis- 2500 mi. /5 days and I'm not their best guy by a long shot- getting better though.
-Assigned trucks unless you are part-time (which you won't be starting out)
They only hire IL,IN, and IA- the reason for this is freight lanes and getting a weekly reset in... this is important because you WILL run hard. With these guys its easy to blow through your 70 in 5 days.
Nussbaum Transportation-Pretty good so far

Nussbaum has this Japanesy, campus-like yard, shop and corporate HQ with water, looks like small man-made lake. Looks like you could fish while truck worked on but never seen anyone fishing on way by. Everything looks polished, wood, stone and glass. Very pretty. Like going by.
Off I-39 northbound (east side). I'm mostly on I-74 heading out from or back to Indiana and frequently run up I-39. If they're anywhere near as good as they look, they're good!! -
Nussbaum is legit. I'm home every weekend. I usually bring home 900 a week, any time you call, someone answers. Equipment is newer, I like the fact that they let you know what your next load is goin to be, you are going to be runnin, NO SITTING FOR DAY DO A LOAD. This is a good company.

Any of the Nussbaum Texas based drivers on this site? Just wondering if your loads are mostly drop/hook, no touch freight, or do you also get the windows, garage doors and tires that other drivers here have mentioned? Thanks
-
Along the lines of Texas, most of your freight would probably be no touch. Obviously there's no promises(welcome to trucking), but I'd expect MAYBE a window or tire load every other month at MOST.ATX Thanks this. -
I was with Nussbaum for 5 years. They are good folks and really enjoyable to work with. The consistent overreach into personal lifestyle, inconsistent mileage, and mediocre pay leaves much to be desired. If you are looking for a company that shows genuine interest in your contributions, this is the place. They are great for bonuses because it's the only way to earn above lower end wage. You will receive signed b-day cards, xmas cards, ect..., along with an occasional gift card to the Darden Restaurant Chain, but as for consistent runs, or miles, they are not the spot. I have earned more working true local, home daily, and better benefits, but now, I'm glad to be earning 6 figs pure yr at the best co. Granted, Nussbaum, Josh, Kent, Gary, Steve, they are all great people, and solid managers, but Nussbaum is cold fries.
Arkansas Frost Thanks this. -
My husband does a dedicated lane for them from Atlanta to El Paso, TX.
His lane is 98% No touch drop and hook. They have other dedicated lanes in Texas as well for Caterpillar from Sequin TX to Illinois. They are a great company to work for and they treat their drivers very well. They have changes mileage pay ...flat rate of.42 per mile now plus you earn bonuses. They pay for every major holiday. Great and affordable health insurance place which cover health, dental and vision. Their minimum pay is now guaranteed at 1,050 @ week avg about 950 after taxes and such. The are very proactive on health issues and stress how important it is to be healthy and stay fit. They are great about repairs and staying on top of your truck needing service done. You can not drive your truck home but they do allow you to park in safe secure.areas close by with their approval of course (INS purposes). You work 4 1/2~days off 2 1/2 unless you agree to do a short run but by.no means do they make you do anything. They are very.family oriented and want their drivers to be home for family time as much as possible and on holidays. They are a Christian based company so if you curse like a sailor you might best hold ya tongue but I can't think of one negative thing to say about this company. Hubby.has been with them a yr come June and he couldn't be happier. Great company and very friendly staff. -
I'll be joining next week. Flying in on Sunday for orientation. So far everything sounds great, hope that keeps up.
