Anyone have any reports on this GPS yet?
-
I have ordered my husbands from Amazon, it is due to arrive any day. I'll let you know what he thinks.
Got a nice deal with no shipping costs. -
I been using mine for a few days now and I love it...
-
Got mine today, it's been good so far. It shows a little speed limit sign on the side which is pretty handy. It's been wrong a few places but I haven't updated the unit yet. It also has a curve warning that pops up in the lower left corner and it dings. That's really handy.
I have to get a universal mount for it though. This one has to be on a flat surface and sticks with some goo. It took about 50 miles to start leaning, another 50 to lean over again, and about 30 to take a nose dive off the dash. It's a decent mount but won't work in the truck unless you use liquid nail on it.
The touch screen is nice. Moving the map around on the screen is like sliding a piece of paper around a smooth table top.
The search is nearly instant. I had to type out "Saint Louis, Mo" and sit there for half a minute before the pcmiler came up with any options. I tried it on the 465t and got as far as "st " before it popped up two options for St Louis.
The buttons actually work!I haven't had to press a button more than once yet.
The poi search just came up with a list of scales within a 243 mile radius of me. That took about 5 seconds. Now I just have to figure out how to search from another location. -
Now, here's the wacky part. When searching for Truck POI'S you can either choose POI / Trucking OR NTTS. Both ways have truck scales and truck stops. However, the data is NOT ALWAYS THE SAME. I think that using the NTTS data may be better because it has a scale near me that the regular POI / Trucking doesn't show. I don't know why Garmin would put what appears to be the same type of POI's in two different locations, but they did. -
Yeah, I was playing around with that before I pulled out earlier. I wasn't sure what NTTS meant. I'll keep that in mind.
I found out what the "Where am I?" button does. I hit it and it showed my gps co-ordinates, altitude, city, state, the address and name of the place I was at, and even the phone number of the place. That's impressive. -
I'm interested in the truck routing the most right now, so please update with how well it does routing you as this goes forward will ya? Thanks! -
So far it's routing me correctly. It has the option to calculate the fasted route or another way, I've been leaving it on fastest. There is an error coming up 151 to get to west 20 through Dubuque, Ia. It will show the right direction, left, at 151 and 61, but it says to go south 61, to the right.
You're right about the car speed limits, truck limits aren't loaded.
It also rebooted itself when I pulled out, twice. Shut off, restarted, started loading maps, shut off again, reloaded, and was set on my previous destination. I dunno why t did that.
It will save the location off the where am I too.
