hey, not to be too pedantic, but i assume you set your unit for trucks, vs. auto? just make sure...

I did notice that it crashed again and I think it's a repeatable error. When I pulled into the truck stop for a break it was trying to recalculate and rebooted. I realized when it crashed the first time I'd pulled out going the wrong way and it was recalculating then too. Maybe what it needs rather than a mute button is a pause navigation button. -
I don't know about all those gadgets. But have you guys tried Microsoft's "STREETS & TRIPS"? It lay it down to the very detailed rout(s). You can make many different routs(Stops), you may entre your MPG and tank capacity then it will calculate where you should make your next stop to refuel.
But take note. This device do NOT shows (Bridge limit, and clearance)

I bought MS Streets a while back but the gps part of it wouldn't work at all so I returned it.
The 465 screwed up pretty good yesterday. It took me along most of the route, didn't crash. I got on highway 67 to go to a town that was on 67 but I'd forgotten which highway it was on. There's 3 highways all kind of angling up that way, I think. So I was just following the garmin through town.
It told me to turn off on another highway in town so off I go to see where it leads. It goes down this highway about 4.5 miles then turns me to the right on what looks like a decent road, probably not a truck route since it went straight up a cliff. So I make it up the cliff and it turns me to the left on another highway that it doesn't know is a truck route and right across a 37 ton bridge. This highway continues arcing north until it goes right back to 67.
It should never turn you off a truck route to take a questionable route to get right back to the route you were already on.
And the mount was trying to fall off the dash all day. Considering that they are wanting to write tickets for things being on the dash blocking the windshield and the only mount you can get with this unit is the dash mount (you can't mount it anywhere else due to the design) I think Garmin owes me the price of a decent mount.
On the other hand, the curve warnings warned me of at least three curves that weren't even posted. I found out it has about a 2 mile scale warning on it too, although one of the scales it alerted on had been converted to truck parking.LSU Tiger Thanks this. -

Comments on several of these posts and updates as the testing progresses.
- Truck routing is good, but not perfect, as you can see from the other comments here as well. Truck routing is less accurate on local and county roads. As with everything you have to keep your common sense with you always.
- System reboots. I have seen 2 of these "random" restarts along with what kajidono experienced. I am a bit worried about these and will be monitoring these with the users as more get out on the road.
- Multi-stop routing. Yes you can do this in order to plan out several stops or to force it down a particular highway that you want it to. It does NOT have the "set as waypoint" feature like the PC Miler does, so it does try to stop you at each point if you just wanted to keep going.
- Viewing route directions. Garmin is more convoluted than PC Miler in this regard. Tends to show you one leg at a time instead of a total route summary of turns and must be accessed from "driving" screen rather than a separate "planning" screen.
- Volume. Yes it keeps trying to get you going when you are sitting in a truck stop or rest area. If you turn it down or even off, then it'll shut up. A "pause navigation" button is a great idea.
- The mount. Not a suction cup style so it is not good for moving it from vehicle-to-vehicle, and it tends to get loose under rough roads. I'm not real fond of their design choice there.
- MS Streets and Trips is for the Laptop. No truck routing but very good address database.
- Co-Pilot Truck also for the laptop. Good truck routing but fewer addresses in the current maps.
- New York City testing is just about complete for the Garmin (one more week to go.) This is a special test area that we do because of the particular difficulty driving in the 5 Burroughs that is very unique from the rest of the country (with the exception of maybe Chicago.) If you are an NYC driver then the Garmin is the best current choice. It was not perfect, but it was nearly perfect in NYC. The PC Miler was far less accurate on the NYC specific truck routes on the current routing, but we will test it again there next month with their new 2009 map update.
- Lane change warnings - super cool.
- Real time traffic warnings - super cool.
- Detouring. Not so super cool. It gives you the option to detour but with no specific summary of roads you're going to take so it's kind of a "surprise" where it's going to go.
- Addresses. The NavTeq maps continue to be very accurate and complete with only a few exceptions where it hasn't had an address, or had one that was actually a block away from the actual location.
Garmin testing continues the rest of this month and the new PC Miler software plus the road Goodyear tests in July.

I give the garmin 465t a mixed review.
The GOOD
1. Truck routing is fairly good
2. Warnings for things like scales, curves & grades
3. Lane assist
4. Speed limit notification for those annoying unmarked roads (have noticed some innacurate markings though)
5. Trip map showing map of USA and the total trip route with miles / duration
The BAD
1. Speed limit signs are wrong often enough that you fear to put any faith in them
2. The trip meter loses it's brain almost constantly so all of your statistics are useless
The UGLY
1. Sound is buggy and cuts out completely without warning. I've missed more than one turn due to this bug. It happens daily. Sometimes multiple times.
2. The system loses it's brain completely and suddenly thinks your in a different part of the country and starts giving nonsensical directions until you reset it and re-create the trip. This happens every couple of days or so.
3. If you have multiple stops in your trip it tends to get confused and may try to route you to a different stop occasionally.
3. Rarely the system will freeze completely until reset.
Overall I like the unit. It has some very serious bugs that hopefully will be addressed by the Garmin team. Even with the problems my co-driver has decided that he needs to have one when I leave.Dieselboss Thanks this.
