NuWay Trucking School-St. Louis Mo.

I attended this school and this is where I got my CDL. I was told 3 to 4 weeks max. I was told cost was the lowest around. I was told the school had the best trainers available.

The first week you spend it in the classroom. Then the second week you go out to the yard. Your supposed to get the pre-inspection out of the way first in that first week on the yard. THAT NEVER HAPPENED!

I had to go out and spend a day learning the whole pre-inspection on my own. When I tested, I got a 100% with out any of the trainers help.

By the end of the second week you were supposed to start training in the truck. By the end of the third week you were supposed to be over on the other side learning the final two manuvers.

By the end of week four your name was supposed to be on the board to go test.

I spent weeks two, three, and four over on side one because they had several students who kept flunking the state test. So they had to keep taking those students down to test until they all passed. I know some students went 4, 5 and 6 times before they passed. The day I final got to go, one lady was on her 8th trip to the testing site.

At the end of week four, that is when I finally went over and taught myself the pre-inspection.

Weeks five and six I finally made it over to the other side to learn the final two manuvers.

At the beginning of week six I went and spoke with the head school official. I told her I was getting frustrated with how the process was going and that I was tired of being held up by other students.

She sent my to Rolla at the end of week six to test. I passed every thing that day and was in a car to Marshfield, WI. to start for Roehl on that Saturday.

If I hadn't gone in and spoken with her when I did, I probably would have been there another week for sure maybe two.

The cost was $6,495. I later found out the school was charging a good $2,500 more than what most schools charged. I felt like I had been ripped off.

Cost= Higher than what most trucking schools charge.

Training= If you want to get your CDL and get out there to make your money, not a great place to learn. If you don't care, then take as long as you need because they don't care. I know one lady was there for 3 months.

Loan= They have a fiance company. They only get a pro-rated part of the loan though if you only complete certain steps of the program. They won't tell you this of course because they obviously want you to complete the program.

If your in the military, take your DD214 to them because that saves you $500.

On a scale of 5, with 5 being the best. I'd rate this trucking school a 2. A below average school that cost to much, took to long to train you and only taught you what you needed to know in order to pass your test.

The first time I ever drove on the highway was when I took my test for the state. Thank god I only had to go a mile.

 

The school was in a different location before I attended. It was on I-55 at the time. Something caused them to move the location to the present site but I am not sure of the reason.
