    The owner cheated on the zoning laws and was caught. Now he has to fill those vacancies with low income renters. He'll become a slumlord by not taking care of building maintenance.

    So, basically the communist Mayor DeBlasio seized high-dollar real estate and is rewarding his political supporters with low-income housing in the heart of Manhattan? Doesn't sound much different than Zimbabwe.

    I thought I posted this thread in the political section, but didn't by mistake.
    I posted a thread about that today.
    de Blasio put 6 registered sex offenders in a high end hotel in upper Manhattan just one block from an elementary school playground. One of them raped a 4 year old girl.

    Either they're making these decisions purposely to create chaos and division or it's from long-term drug use. They really need to be held accountable and I mean in a courtroom not at the ballot box.

    My brother has lived in NYC since 1972. The illegal shenanigans going on there, first to get around rent control or "rent stabilized" units, to SRO's (single room occupancy") dumps, to illegal single family homes converted to multi family ( which he lives in now...) the list is endless.
    Don't care one bit for people who insist on living in a real estate market that is distorted like NY or California. There are plenty on other nice areas available.
    On second thought, you people need to stay right in those ratholes. I don't want you here....

    Hundreds or maybe thousands of those cases just in NYC. In California people buy "Tuff Sheds" and put them in their backyards and rent them for $1200 - $1500 monthly. LA is bad about people putting several families in a small apartment and jacking the rent up.
