So, I'm finally getting the monkey off my back and will be going through NYC this week. My delivery is east of NYC off 495.
Whats the best time to get through there? I don't have a set appointment time, and I can get there early. I usually prefer to start my day around 5am, usually traffic in bigger cities is pretty thin at that time. Never been to NYC though.
Also general advice you may have for this area.. trying to avoid being 'that guy' if i can. Will likely be delivering on friday, if that matters.
NYC/Metro area...

You want to be back in NJ by 5:30 am AT THE LATEST ... will the receiver take the load in the middle of the night?
-
You can ride the whole bqe if you stay in the middle lane.
It'll save ya some time.
Kinda retarded going the other way. -
Before you go in there check your route with Google satellite maps. One of the best things ever invented for truckers. I live in NYC and use it all the time. I can see if I can make a turn or not or where the receiving dock is around the building.
briarhopper Thanks this. -
You can even use Google street view to check for no truck signs, no turns, and low bridges

Just try to go through the city when Governor Christie isn't mad at anyone.
n3ss Thanks this.
