first i must say this is my only ticket ...but its embarrassing ...i have a speeding ticket that i got in april 2007 i was going 80 in a 50 mph zone ....i know its very unprofessional for someone who wants to be a professional driver to be so wreckless with their Drivers license...all i can say is it will NEVER happen to me again.......but my question is due to the drastic speed i was going should i hang it up or at least TRY to start my trucking career? I get my CDL on august 11th BTW

A straight up speeding ticket is likely forgivable. As long as no "riders" were attached ie; reckless, speeds in excess, overdriving road conditions and the like. Eighty in a 50? Holy smokes!

In the old days it may have been forgettable, but under new rules regulations and insurance for as someone trying to enter the business with a 15MPH or over ticket that is less then three years old is considered a MAJOR violation... You are going to have serious issues in getting a job till that ticket is exactly 3 years old...

Thanks for the info i figured that much......im not one to make excuses especially when i know im in the wrong... but i truly believe that GOD used this as a tool to guide me in the right direction....cause i was horribly offtrack. When i got that ticket my perspective was not...."oh my god what was i thinking"....it was more "hey WTF is wrong with this cop i wasn't even going THAT fast". This is how young minded i was and i recognize my ignorance . I was dangerous to myself and others on the road and its a shame, but I've grown and i fully understand what it takes to be a true professional driver. If it takes 3 years so be it whatever it takes!
