things are more expensive on the east coast because property values are sky high. Buying a store in NY or MD will cost you 3 times as much as buying a store in the south, of west. There is just no land back east, it all costs way too much.


That is why prices are higher back east. Out in the middle of nowhere, stuff is just cheaper.

 

Don't forget their outrageous tax rates.

 

And more than three times as many people to shop at your store - more money to be made, more options of things to sell or businesses to start. More resources (capital) to start your business, more options to buy - products, real estate, etc ...

Living in the boonies is a personal choice - but not necessarily a better business choice.

 

Zen, I wish retail was as simple as you make it out to be with this post.
But it ain't, never has been, never will be.

Opening a retail store in a populated area, may be more sensible, but the wrong store in a good location will still fail.
